After a very long wait, Law & Order: Criminal Intent is finally back!
The first episode of the season finds Detective Goren (Vincent D'Onofrio) and Detective Eames (Katherine Erbe) find themselves involved in the political world. Kathy Baker plays the campaign manager (and mother) of Neil Hayes-Fitzpatrick, a councilman in New York. His whole world is convoluted by the things going on in his life - a scandal involving contracts and a drug addicted stepdaughter. The daughter plays dead after someone shoots at her and her drug dealer boyfriend. Goren and Eames are called to investigate and find out that the drug dealer was involved in more than drugs. The boyfriend was blackmailing about some possibly illegal contracts for the city. The detectives use their personal insight from their own past to understand what is happening and he is able to use that to gain the trust of one the stepdaughter. He learns not all is right within the family and follows that to find the whole truth.
I can't divulge more without giving anything away, but I will say that this episode was worth the wait. It is tense and edgy in all the right places and even as you think you know what is happening, you find there is much more to it than meets the eye. Make sure to watch this riveting episode!
